About Marc Pagani

Marc Pagani, Photographer The images I shoot are generally captured as they occur. My goal in showing my images is to transport you to a place you have never been or to help you see something you have seen 100 times in a different way. I'm completely self-taught when it comes to photography, but my background as a Music Therapist working with sexually and physically abused kids and my education towards a Master's in Counseling Psychology has helped shape my world view. I feel it is important to show that there is a big world out there and when as Americans, we are feeling like it's our way or the highway, it's important to remind ourselves that someone 3,000 miles away does happiness, laughter, hope, sadness, anger, and pain too...they just do it in a different language wearing different clothes or by praying to a different spirit.

Honored as the recipient of First Place in the Photojournalism Category of the ultra-competitive 2008 Prix de la Photographie in Paris, my editorial work has been for magazines such as Outside, Book, Adventure World, unVailed, Groupeez, Sea Ray Living, as well as newspapers, websites, several rock climbing guides, and complete catalogs for Moosejaw Mountaineering and other outdoor gear supply shops and outdoor clothing companies. I also shoot weddings and portraits and am a member of the Professional Photographer's of America (PPA) and the New Orleans Photo Alliance. I have shot in North, Central and South America, SE Asia, and Europe. I've shown work as part of the exhibition "Space" at the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery, at a solo show called "Scaling Mountains: Small Footprints on Big Glaciers" at Mojo in New Orleans, at the Hi Ho Lounge and the Garden District Pub in New Orleans and My work has appeared on the walls of the Bridge Lounge in New Orleans, at the Banff Festival of Outdoor Films, at the Teva Mountain Games in 2006 and 2007, at Blue Sky Rules in California, at SWK in Chicago and in the play "Art" in Chicago. Thanks for taking a look.
